Arnold confirmed he will be in Expendables 3, to reprise his role as Trench when he was at the 21st Century Financial Education Summit in Austria, where he also confirmed that the sequel to the much-loved 1988 film “Twins” is happening, (it will be called “Triplets”) and that he going to get the script soon.

As well, he also stated that he was receiving the scripts for (what he has been calling) King Conan, but has the official title of “The Legend of Conan”, which will be a direct sequel to his last Conan movie. So just forget that one with Jason Momoa…

Also, official as of today (June 24th, 2013), is that Jason Statham will reprise his role as Lee Christmas for the “trequel” (Expendables 3). The third installment is being written by Sylvester Stallone and directed by Patrick Hughes.

Statham said this:

“Of course. It would be silly not to, wouldn’t it?” he said.

“Sly, as he likes to be called, or Sylvester Stallone as we know him, is a workaholic so he’s going to do another one whether we like it or not. It’s great – it’s a guilty pleasure and is how action movies should be made. I don’t know where we’re going to shoot it, or if a particular story has been put together yet, but it’ll be happening this summer, so we’ve been told.”

Statham added that he considered Stallone an inspiration:

“He’s such a legend and a man of experience – he’s been on the top of his game for years and years. He’s a creator, he’s not waiting for people to pass him scripts, so you can learn a lot from a man like that,” he said.

“No one knows how to make an action movie better than Sly. He’s been there, done it and he’s a film-maker and a writer. He’s an auteur – he does everything himself so it’s a one-man vision.”

As well as Arnold & Statham returning to the popular “Expendables” franchise, it’s being rumoured that Mel Gibson is set to play the villain for the third installment.

As for the rest of the cast, the “usuals” Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, are assumed to return.

Newcomers (to The Expendables franchise), Milla Jovovich, Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan, and Nicolas Cage are said to be joining, but no word on which characters they will be playing. Meaning, there’s no confirmation of whether these actors will be playing friends or enemies of the Expendables crew. As well, it’s rumoured that Steven Seagal, Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6) & Joe Talism (martial artist star of The Raid: Redemption) could be joining as well. There was talks that Forest Whitaker could be included, since he was replaced by Terry Crews for the first movie.

There’s rumours that Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood were asked to join, but no confirmation of that. There was even rumours of former President of the United States Bill Clinton could make a cameo.

The movie is set to start filming this summer, and is (so far), set for release August 15, 2014.

The good news, is that Jason Statham says The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7 won’t interfere with each other.
