RoboCop remake set photos – The Second Take

The film stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley. RoboCop opens February 7th, 2014.

Here’s the plot from Collider.com:

“In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.”

Collider.com also said this (back in October, 2012)…

“Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Eric Carraro as Executive Producer. The film is currently in pre-production and slated for a summer 2013 release.”

But of course, now the release date is February 7th, 2014.

And there’s been a lot of people saying bad things about the suit, and the new design, and saying it looks like Batman clashed with Iron Man…

Not sure about this one… The plot is cool, Robocop is awesome, and definitely needed a reboot, but I’m just not sure if this will be the best version.

Let’s hope though.

I’ve been looking around, and I actually stumbled upon a Robocop Fan Forum of sorts, where someone pointed something out that could just be true.

He pointed out that there are markings on the new Robocop suit here:

And these markings could actually be markers for the CG editors to add things later. Much like the markings for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake and The Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes editors to add the CG in later. Maybe, this is a possibility, but there is no guarantee, it’s just a guess. I feel like there could be more toe the suit, because Robocop used to be mainly silver, now he’s completely black? Hmmm… there could be something added later on…
