Donald Glover cast as Lando in Han Solo Star Wars prequel

Variety reports it has officially been confirmed – DONALD GLOVER has been cast as LANDO CALRISSIAN in the upcoming Star Wars prequel about Han Solo!

Donald Glover, who gained fame through Community and Atlanta, will portray a young Lando who was originally played by Billy Dee Williams. The actor is heading to a galaxy far, far away to (hopefully) explain the unexplored friendship between Han Solo and Lando.

The movie is slated for a 2018 release with directors Chris Miller & Phil Lord who recently helmed the Lego Movie.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Phil Lord and Chris Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.” (Variety

Recently it was revealed that Alden Ehrenreich had been cast as a young Han Solo and now Glover will be at his side.

The Han Solo spinoff has no official plot but hopefully it will give some much needed backstory for the man who runs Cloud City & the smuggler who comfortably commands the Millenium Falcon. But sources close to the project say it could show how Lando loses the Millenium Falcon to Han Solo.

Many actors including Jason Mitchell & O’Shea Jackson Jr. (both from Straight Outta Compton) have reportedly tested for the role of Lando, but ultimately Glover landed it.

The casting to me is fantastic, but what do you all think?
