Fans should not have been surprised to hear that after the success of The Raid series that an American remake was on it’s way. Screen Gems has purchased the rights to remake Gareth Evans’ breakthrough action film The Raid: Redemption. And with buzz already surrounding the upcoming sequel The Raid: Berandal, there really wasn’t any doubt someone would try and remake it for an American audience.

At this point, the production company and fight choreographers behind The Raid will return for the American remake, but fans should be wary of the film since the third instalment in the Indonesian series is pretty much inevitable.

For a bit, the Hemsworth brothers were rumoured to star in the upcoming remake, but no updates have been made.
