According to IMDB.com, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes takes place 10 years after (the reboot) Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and given that the cast list on IMDB, besides Ceasar (motion portrayed by Andy Serkis) is completely new, it’s pretty clear the Planet Of The Apes timeline has moved past James Franco’s character Will Rodman, but according to SlashFilm.com, James Franco does have a cameo, but he had no idea about it.
In his latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, Franco was asked about his mysteruiys cameo:
“Wait, I have a cameo? I didn’t know that. You know, I don’t even think they asked my permission for that.”
… That’s confusing, how could Franco have a cameo in the movie, but not even know about it?
Well, SlashFilm went on a set visit, and one of their reporters posted this earlier:
“It is presumed that James Franco and Frida Pinto’s characters died from the virus. We do get some closure with respect to what may have happened to them at some point in the story. In fact, in the Rise of the Planet of the Apes script James Franco’s character Will Rodman died. They even shot the sequence, but it didn’t make the final cut of that film.”
So, it turns out James Franco already filmed a death for his character, so they might end up using that to “kill off” his character in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes opens July 11th.
What do you guys think? Any thoughts on Franco having a cameo in the sequel? What do you think of the Planet Of The Apes series’ reboot?
