After watching the newest Godzilla trailer, I noticed some scenes that could indicate there could be some other monsters (from Godzilla’s original Japanese movies) making cameos in the upcoming reboot.
1. Gigan or Kumonga
In the trailer, there’s a mysterious hook-like arm-looking-thing that doesn’t appear to be any military weapon, it seems organic, almost like it could be a leg of one of these two.
Gigan is a cybernetic space monster sporting a buzzsaw weapon in its frontal abdominal region and large metallic hooks for hands.
Kumonga was a giant spider and was able to survive multiple hits from Godzilla’s atomic ray.
2. Rodan or Destoroyah
There’s one shot (shown in the trailer) where there seems to be a flying object, but it doesn’t quite look like one of the planes.
From ScreenRant.com:
Rodan is an ancient, humungous pterodactyl that lives peacefully deep within the earth until some unwitting miners accidentally started bothering him. After being awakened, he flew around wreaking havoc on Japan until Godzilla stopped him.
He hasn’t always been Godzilla’s enemy, though, even joining forces with him and Mothra to defeat King Ghidorah. It’s worth noting that at one point, Rodan destroyed New York City. In the trailer, a birdlike silhouette in the sky could tease Rodan’s appearance.
3. Varan
Varan is an odd flying squirrel-type creature with membranes between his arms and legs and is covered from his head to his the tip of his tail in spines similar to those on the back of Godzilla. Even though he prefers to pillage the ground and attack from the sky, Varan isn’t afraid to get his tail wet either.
He could easily be the unidentified creature flying and diving into the ocean that we saw in the trailer – though his presence wouldn’t really explain the underground tunnel the scientists find. (Source ScreenRant.com)
4. Centipoor
Centipoor was created by the evil Dr. Demonicus using radioactive material found in a meteor, referred to as the “Lifestone”. Along with Mothra and Lepirax, Centipoor battled Godzilla with the multi-legged beast eventually being destroyed by Godzilla. (Source ScreenRant.com)
5. The Shobijin (this one is a bit of a stretch)
And to finish it off, there’s that Kaiju (non-identified creature) that people are walking inside of it’s bones near the end of the trailer:
Plus, who’s tentacles or eggs are these?
What monsters do you think will show up in the new Godzilla movie? Which do you want to see in the reboot? What do you think of the trailer?

This is awesome! I watched the trailer for Godzilla yesterday and it looks pretty interesting. I hope they follow through with a good performance after all the hype they have created! And your suggestions for reboots are really cool. I haven’t even seen half of those movies… it would be sweet to see them with the new technology that we are using for movies these days!!
