According to TVGuide.com, Modern Family will be taking a family vacation down to Australia because of ABC’s partnership with Qantas airlines. This February, Qantas airlines will fly the cast & crew down for a two-week shoot. The Modern Family shoot in Australia is the result of a partnership between Qantas, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products.
Modern Family creator Steve Levitan said: “We are excited about our trip down under and we promise not to any ‘down under’ jokes… We look forward to a fantastiv shoot in many exotic locations. We loved the family vacation episodes we shot in Hawaii and Wyoming – this one is certainly our most ambitious yet. We promise to feature a kangaroo, a koala and a boomerang. I’m sure there will be lots more, but so far that’s all we know about Australia — our American school system is a disaster. So we thank Qantas for this amazing opportunity to broaden our horizons. Plus it’ll be nice to go to a place where everyone looks like Hugh Jackman and Miranda Kerr. Aussie, Aussie Aussie!”
There’s no word on where they could be filming, but (a quote from Australia’s most gay-friendly city Canberra, TheCanberraTimes.com) “a Qantas spokeswoman said producers of the show would arrive this month (January) to scout for possible locations and seek out potential storylines… Canberra would be primed for at least a short stopover by two of the show’s most popular characters, gay partners Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet).”
If you’re in Australia next month look out for the cast & crew!
Modern Family airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC, chances are the episode could be the season finale.
What do you think of the cast in Australia? What could the story be in Aussieland? Anyone think this episode will be the finale?
