According to ScreenRant.com, director James Wan has officially decided how to deal with the touchy subject surrounding Paul Walker’s death, and what that means for the “Fast & Furious” franchise. As Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are the main two characters, his character couldn’t just go away, and never be seen again, this subject (like I said earlier) has to be dealt with, gently.

Paul Walker, who lead the franchise to fame passed away in a car accident on November 30th, 2013 and there have been several rumours and possible solutions on how to continue the franchise (without Walker) per his family’s request – because they (the Walker family) knew how much the franchise meant to Paul and how much Paul means to the fans – they said it wouldn’t be fair to have the franchise suddenly end with Paul’s passing.

At first there were rumours on how the franchise would continue, and more importantly, how “Fast & Furious 7” would deal with Walker’s death, seeing as they were about half-way done filming the sequel and it was set to come out in theatres July 2014.

There was one rumour that Walker’s character was going to be killed off, to explain his sudden absence from the franchise that he pushed to make popular.

The rumour was that the director was going to use C.G.I. and stock footage of Walker’s face to put over top a stunt driver’s and have Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker’s character) die in a car crash sequence, which would lead the rest of the Toretto gang to want vengeance, but that one will probably stay a rumour because that’s way too close to what actually happened and fans wouldn’t respect that decision. Plus it seems insensitive.

The other (and more probable) rumour was that Paul Walker’s younger brother Cody was set to “fill in the blank spots” where bigger brother Paul would have been needed to finish the film, seeing as they share a close likeness.

According to DailyMail.com, “A source close to production said today (Dec.13, 2013): ‘Producers had a string of meetings right after Paul’s death.
‘They soon realized they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that’s when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody.’
‘They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it’s a shot they need Paul’s face in close up they can CGI it later on.
‘If Cody agrees it’s because he wants to honor his brother’s memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving.’

In addition to this, Universal have also made it clear they will work with the Walker family and take their guidance on a fitting exit for Paul’s Fast & Furious character, Brian O’Connor, according to the source.”

The director of Fast & Furious 7 James Wan, according to ScreenRant.com and Collider.com, will “retire” Brian O’Conner, using already shot footage and some with his brother (and the possible help of C.H.I.) to hopefully leave the fans fulfilled and not disappointed with the way they do it.

The next instalment in the popular racing franchise is now set for an April 2015 release.
