Columbia Pictures is starting production on a follow-up to the 2011 hit “Bad Teacher” and also, a TV show based on it. Jake Kasdan, who directed the original, will direct the second movie.
The first movie grossed over $216 million worldwide, so a sequel was expected, but there’s also a TV show in the works.
So far, there is no word on whether Cameron Diaz will return. Justin Malen is writing a script to be directed by Jake Kasdan. Jimmy Miller, Kasdan, Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky will produce and Melvin Mar will executive produce.
The TV show will follow a character (different from Cameron Diaz’s in the movie), named Meredith Davis, played by Ari Graynor who searches for love, while also is foul-mouthed like in the movie.
Here’s the plot from IMDB:
It centers on a sexy, foul-mouthed divorcée who becomes a teacher to find her next husband.
What do you think of the TV show? Also, what about a sequel? Any thoughts on Cameron Diaz on whether Cameron Diaz should return?
