The plot:
A look at the life of Eugene Allen, who served eight presidents as the White House’s head butler from 1952 to 1986, and had a unique front-row seat as political and racial history was made.
And here’s the first trailer:
So I have a few things to say about this movie:
First, I have to say that this movie is going to be either really good, or really unimportant. The reason being the casting, more or less the use of the cast in the trailer…
If I had to rank the actors based on who portrays the real person the best, here’s the order I’d put them in:
1. Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan
Completely underplayed in the trailer, in fact, he’s not even really in the trailer except for this quick scene, that could be captured with one picture:
Yea, that’s his scene in the trailer: a single frame. What a shame. He better have more scenes in the movie.
2. James Marsden as John F. Kennedy
This one is pretty good. But personally, I like Greg Kinnear as JFK (in The Kennedy’s). Just Kinnear looks more like Kennedy.
4. Lieve Schrieber as Lyndon B. Johnson
5. Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower
6. Melissa Leo as Mamie Eisenhower

And lastly, (coming deadlast), John Cusack as Richard Nixon
Yea, I don’t think Cusack is exactly the right choice for Nixon, perhaps if he had done more to look the part, then maybe. But so far, he just looks John Cusack does in all his movies…
Anyways, I think the most will be one of those historical movies that is really emotional, and heart-warming, but most of the time, the sad truth is, those movies tend to be some-what boring, long and boring. Sometimes it just happens. But I hope it’s good.
Pretty good casting apart from Nixon, I think.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, what do you guys think of the casting? What about the trailer? I think it’s gonna be worth seeing how about you guys?

Honestly, I was entirely taken by Cusack as Nixon, surprising, as I’m not John Cusack’s greatest fan.
But yes, Alan Rickman as Reagan was utterly brilliant. And yet, I think he was a little wasted in the role, because I spent his entire screen time giggling hysterically at the idea of Alan Rickman playing Ronald Reagan.
