Star Wars fans are having their dreams come true lately:
More Star Wars sequels (with the original cast), and now some origin stories (spinoffs) for the two biggest badasses of the franchise: the secondary hero, and the unappreciated villain.
Who else could be more worthy of spinoff stories??!!
From VeryAware.com:
Entertainment Weekly printed:
“The Boba Fett film would take place either between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, or between Empire and Jedi, where the bounty hunter was last seen plunging unceremoniously into a sarlacc pit. Exactly who would play him isn’t much of a complication – in the original trilogy, he never took off his helmet. And in the prequels, we learned he was the son of the original stormtrooper clone, played by Temuera Morrison, who’s still the right age for the part if his services were required.”
But when talking about the Han Solo story they wrote:
“The Han Solo story would take place in the time period between Revenge of the Sith and the first Star Wars (now known as A New Hope), so although it’s possible Harrison Ford could appear as a framing device, the movie would require a new actor for the lead – one presumably much younger than even the 35-year-old Ford when he appeared in the 1977 original.”
Now that would be one hell of a thriller. The opening line: “You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon?… It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs…”
I want to watch that so badly…
Now the only problem would be casting a young Han Solo, but I think Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy) would be a fine fit and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) could be a good Luke.
“One Man & His Rancor” would be an interesting story, I don’t know about you, but I was always confused about this relationship… did he love the Rancor? or were they just really good friends… not sure. But they were meant for each other, no matter the relation and I would like to know why/how/what…
I think the only possible spinoff I would not want to see can be described by the picture below. Disney, please don’t mess up Star Wars by adding this. I beg you.
To put the icing on the cake, when rumours spread that there would be Star Wars spinoffs, Ewan McGregor publicly announced that he wants an Obi-Wan sequel that explains why he aged 40 years between Episode 3 and 4. No I kid… McGregor stated he would be interested in exploring the story as to why Obi-Wan just vacated to the desert and what he was doing for those 20 years. That could be interesting.
What do you think will be the best? What other characters do you think need backstories? Who should play Han Solo?
