Independence Day: Resurgence – Is The Official Title For The Sequel

independence-day-resurgence-logo-slice-600x200

The official and banal title Independence Day: Resurgence has been given to the sequel of the 1996 alien battle classic Independence Day. After 20 years, they couldn’t come up with a more interesting name?

Independence Day: New Dawn

Independence Day: Round Two

Independence Day: Again

Independence Day: Resurrection (damn, already taken by Alien)

Independence Day: Reawakening

Independence Day: America Never Loses

Independence Day: Return Of The Aliens

ANYTHING but Resurgence which just seems too basic.

When speaking about the first Independence Day director Roland Emmerich said “We call it in the film the War of ’96… It’s like a post-World generation that’s unified, and that’s amazing to see a world come together with a common enemy. That’s resurgence.”

The sequel comes out June 24th, 2016 – exactly one year from tomorrow!

The plot:

Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction. (Source IMDB.com)
