Thomas Kretschmann who recently played Abraham van Helsing on NBC’s “Dracula”, has been cast as a secondary villain in the upcoming Avengers sequel. It’s expected that he will play Baron von Strucker in “Avengers: Age Of Ultron”.

It turns out, the Avengers will be facing more than just Ultron in “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron”. Deadline.com reports that director Joss Whedon is casting a secondary villain for his sequel to The Avengers (2012), and now, it’s being reported (by Variety.com) that Thomas Kretschmann will fill the role of the secondary villain.

EmpireOnline.com gave a nice character background for Strucker:

“In the comics, Strucker was a German soldier disfigured by facial scars who became one of Hitler’s top men during his rise to power. He tangled with both Captain America and Nick Fury, and joined Hydra, becoming instrumental in its evil schemes.”

Production for “Avengers: Age Of Ultron” will start next month and the movie is set for theatres on May 1st, 2015. Here’s the first preview for the sequel:
