“Zombieland: The Series” gets a poster

When word came that there would be a sequel to the 2009 hit zombie-comedy (or “zombedy” for short… but I don’t think that’ll catch on) Zombieland, there was definitely a positive fan base that was ready to see the story continued, but I don’t think this is what they imagined…The Second Take BannerZombieland-Cast

No trailer yet, unfortunately, and apparently you will only be able to watch the episodes on Amazon Instant Video, but no word on when the show is going to be out.

Kirk Ward is set to replace Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee:

Emma Stone is being replaced by Maiara Walsh, who will play WichitaWichita-zombieland-20358615-1280-1024

Abigail Breslin is being replaced by Izabela Vidovic, who will play Little RockZombieland-Abigail-Breslin

And finally, Tyler Ross will replace Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus.Zombieland-Columbus-Casting

The only other mention-able cast member is Rachel Cannon as Sheila (an unknown character at this point)…

Obviously the show takes place after the Zombieland movie, because the movie introduced the four of them to each other, but there’s no word on the plot exactly, maybe just surviving the apocalypse, but funny? Also, if anyone decides that Zombieland turning into a tv show means they are just trying to steal The Walking Dead’s thunder, I would beg to differ because of one important fact: Zombieland (the movie) was originally pitched to be a tv show back in 2006-2007… years before production even started on TWD. I admit, I will watch this series, just based on curiousity, but it won’t take away from my Walking Dead time. This past weekend, my family had to make a serious decision: choose between the Walking Dead season 3 finale, or the Game of Thrones season 3 premiere, guess which I chose.

Perhaps The Walking Dead will lose some viewers that just want to have a lighter, funnier zombie-watching experience, but TWD has a fan base that grows every Sunday, and I doubt that it will be threatened by a recasted spinoff show of a zombie-comedy…

Should they have at least tried to keep the original cast? Are they just riding off the Walking Dead fan-base that want a little more comedy? Also, are you going to go through the trouble of signing up for Amazon Instant Video, just to watch this one show, that might not be what you expect?
